I have an old Apple IIc I am restoring. When I turn off the power, the memory does not clear for more than a minute. That is, I can turn it back on, and be back where I left it. I even tried unplugging the brick from the back of the IIc, but to no effect. So whatever is happening must be internal. Is this a known issue? I guess that it might be a poor capacitor, but is there some other component meant to drain the caps that should be checked?

I have a 4100x IIc that does a similar thing. Maybe does not need to wait for a minute, but needs to wait a bit before it will reset and boot properly. I wondered if it was particular to that model, but I would have thought the power supply would be common to all of them.
I think I remember my IIc's doing that, some number of seconds may be normal. It's definitely not a "flip off then on" type of thing.
If it's an actual minute or two, that is odd. That's a long time.
If I remember Right the iic has 128k of static ram. Static ram in it's very nature needs a clock to keep its data. if you can find the schematic and locate the clk or strobe pin, and monitor it while its off you might see that the clock is still running!
Edit: correction, SRAM just needs power, DRAM needs clock, I forgot which one was which. Just check for power on the chips.
