Just a question; what would be a reasonable asking price for a nice Apple PowerCD?
I subscribe to the LowEndMac Swap List, and a couple of weeks ago somebody posted one for sale, asking for best offer. He posted again a couple days later, saying it had sold. For $400. Crikey!
Seeing that reminded me that I have a PowerCD (complete with cradle, remote, wall wart, and audio/video cable; check my image gallery) sitting in a box doing nothing, so I sent a similar ad to the Swap List asking for best offers. All I got back was an offer for $10 (shipped!) and several scoldings from listmom wannabes reminding me that "Best Offer" ads were no longer permitted on the List.
While I'm not convinced I need to sell it, if there truly is a chance that it's worth multiple hundreds of dollars... Well, let's just say that everything is for sale at the right price (even my own kids ) But if the real price is closer to the lone offer I got for it, I'm not inclined to sell it. The PowerCD is small enough that it doesn't bother me to keep it around just as a memento of days past, but it is also a really cool toy; not only that, mine is in great cosmetic condition and it works perfectly. So without the proper motivation, I'm keeping it.
So with all that in mind, would it be worth my while to put it up for sale, and if so, at what price? What would you do?
NIB and shrinkwrapped - the sky is the limit.
$40 seems a reasonable amount if it was complete and working.. not that I'd buy it for that much tho.
Hang on to it I reckon.
Check ebay's completed items search, see what turns up. Go through and read the descriptions of the ones that sold high and the ones that sold low. Only the ones with green prices actually sold.
I would say from your description of the condition and accessories, you should be able to get top of the range, whatever the range is. Especially if you write your ad well and allow international orders, at least to the civilised world.
How much for dee leetle girl?
... "Wouldn't give a nickel for any one of 'em, but wouldn't sell 'em for a million dollars."
They make a decent discus
Blues Brothers fan?
Anyways what would a 1997 MacAdvocate CD go for? It has quicktimes of 1984 advertisments and it runs on mac and pc. It is in decent condition.
