How well does a bus powered USB 2.0 HD work with USB 1.1? I know it's slow, but is is so slow so as to not be useable?

that is the maximum that it will achieve. ~500KB's . So it is not very fast. But if it the only thing you can use, it is fast enough![Blum 3](https://www.applefritter.com/sites/all/modules/smiley/packs/kolobok/blum3.gif)
It is incredibably slow. Like use it as a backup but not as a work drive slow.
I once copied 3 gigs from a usb 2.0 drive to a computer that only had usb 1.1. It took like 4 to 8 hours (i really don't remember exactly how long).
Remember, usb 1.1 (fast) is only 12mbps a second whereas usb 2.0 is 480mps a second which is 40 times faster. So in theroy, a file that takes 10 minutes to transfer on usb 2.0, could take roughly 6 hours/400 minutes or so to transfe on usb 1.1.
Ok, thanks for the input. It looks like i'll be using a FireWire enclusure after all.
