It'd be fun to troll for witty aesthetic commentary . . . maybe a separate POLL kinda thread?

NAH! A lot of hard work went into this project and I REALLY don't want to see anyone's feelings hurt over this . . . maybe if the layout person/people really want feedback/criticism then he/she/it/they should start one like that, but this thread will be hard enough to take, I would think, so . . .

I guess this thread should be limited to constructive criticism of the AF2.0 layout and suggestions for remedial steps to be discussed.

Seeds of revolution . . .

I think it'sd be good if everyone "adds a new comment" rather than hitting the "reply" or "quote" buttons so that posts remain editable. I know it's more work, but comments may be more forthcoming if they can be reconsidered and modified or retracted by the authors.

Drupal

Keep in mind that the primary motivation for moving to the new CMS was to decrease my workload.

If you want to criticize you must be prepared to help. This doesn't mean you need to be a programmer, just that you must be ready to contribute in some way (board scans, articles, etc.). I don't have time to do everything myself.

Forums

I believe the vast majority of the criticism is about the forums. If anybody wants to modify a popular forum program so that it can use drupal'sl login data, we'll use it.

stuff on the left side...

my constructive criticism, take all of the stuff on the left and put the adds and my user stuff at the bottom, new users and threads at the top. give me more left-right space.

Put new users in the footer of the home page!

Who gives a rodent's rump? . . . or of those who DO happen to care at all, who really cares enough to justify clogging up every window in the forums with repetitive trivia like how many users are online or who has just signed up? When folks post, THAT's when we get to know them and the n00b-list changes before they really have time to put any useful information into their profile anyway!

The stats belong on the home page only and the copyright notice oughta be a single-line link/micro-notice too, not a freakin' paragraph to be scrolled by in every window after you hit "end" to get to the last post of a long thread!

IMHO, of course!

p.s. can the personal menu bar be tucked into the left panel where the PIC/linkages were in the old forums? Nobody needs to see their own pic-n-info in every post and the menu'd be a LOT handier there to click something after proofreading a new post. In other folk's posts you'd see the normal pic/info/link display and the U/I would be killin' two birds in every pixel field.
