Hi,
After 10 months with the hardware needed to make this adapter I gave it a go this week end
and it works!
I went farther and matched all the ADC pins to the DVI pins in case I ever had to or get my hands on a Apple ADC LCD.
BUT I NEED SOME HELP! There is not much left to do.
All that is needed is to get the CRT power button to start and sleep the mac
My rig is an Apple MDD Dual 1.42 with an Gainward AGP 7800GS dual DVI.
Q1 ## SOFT POWER - ADC PIN 13 @ 0V stand by and +5V when activated##
Could somebody look at the Apple NVIDIA TI AGP video card ADC connecter PIN 13 ant tell me if it is used in the circuitry or if it's a dead pin?
If it is used could you trace all the way to the AGP pins?
Would some one know how to hack the soft power of an APPLE MDD.
I wonder if we connect the ADC pin 13 to the Apple's front panels soft switch, if that would work
It would be great if we could document the Soft Switch hacks so we can all profit from it.
Does anyone know if the Power button of an Apple ADC LCD connected to the Apple ADC DVI converter can startup a Mac?
If so then maybe they are powering it up via USB. Like this USB Start-Up Key. http://www.welovemacs.com/usb-key-bt.html
Q2 ## ADC usb via AGP USB Pin 4 a and b ##
Originally the Apple NVIDIA TI AGP ADC + DVI would take care of the 28V and USB needed for the ADC connecter.
We have the 28v and usb figured out but there might be an other way with the USB.
I looked at the pinouts of an AGP slot and pins 4 Side A and B (http://pinouts.ru/Slots/agp_pinout.shtml) are usb specific.
Do you think these are the pins that the Apple Nvidia TI used to supply the USB connection to the ADC LCD/CRT ?
If so we should be able to use those pins to supply the USB connection to the ADC CRT/LCD.
What do you think.?
Q3 ## ADC Pin 3 LED ##
Does anybody know what pin 3 "LED" @ +5V from the ADC connecter is used for?
PIN 3 givs out +5V when the CRT is powered on.
Could somebody look at the Apple NVIDIA TI AGP video card ADC connecter PIN 3 ant tell me if it is used in the circuitry or if it's a dead pin?
It's late.
Any help is appreciated.
Allot of posts are in favor of cutting the ADC connecter and graphing ether a
DVI or a VGA with a 25v-28v @ 3.5 amps power supply and a usb cable.
Yes that would work. It is just a different approach to to challenge!
I personally went with the external box approach because it is more elegant.
So to chop or not to chop is your choice.
This site is doing the DVI to VGA adapter.
There is useful technical data and a nice picture with the common
pin outs between ADC - DVI - VGA.
