I've a ibook G3 - 12" - 800MHz and it doesn't boot, no chime, no other noise... The only thing I can see is the led in the power cable, which is green or orange depending on the battery (I think it is charging it's battery). Also, when I press control + alt + shift + powerbutton, the led of the poweradaptor (when charging the battery, so it's orange) turns green for a second or two. Could this be a defective DC board or is it a dead logic board ? Also, when it could be the DC board, is it possible to replace it with one form a G4 (also 12")

I've also noticed that there is power on the firewire port (ipod is charging) so the DC in board is probably fine. Must be a dead logic board... any ideas to fix it ? I'd love to see this mac work again, but I just can't afford a new logic board.

Now I've disconected the internal supercap and left it disconnected for the night... still dead. Anyone an idea what else I can do or try ?

The best suggestion I can make is to find a parts donor on ebay. You may have to go through two or three until you find one with the part you need that works, but at least you'll end up with a collection of parts leftover that will prepare you for any future breakdowns. Getting new parts may be impossible and likely will be expensive if they can still be gotten at all. It may end up being cheaper to buy a used early G4 laptop.
I'm having the same problem. The battery seems fine but the Ibook won't start up even when connected to the AC power cord. It was dead for some time, went back to life but since last week it's been dead again.
