I think I missed the boat in the old forums for replying to Software Hack Help Needed (Wi-Fi drivers). That's where gmusser wrote, So you can add TrueMobile+PB1400+OS 8.1 to the list of systems for which this hack works. I hope this is the right place to post.
I've been determined to get a Dell TrueMobile 1150 working in a 5300cs, OS 8.1, so imagine how glad I was to find that thread, including a report of George's success on his 1400. But I must be doing something wrong ???
I've tried inserting the CISTPL_VERS_1 string, etc., but cannot get the card and driver to hook up. So, any additional hints are welcome. A few questions:
- Wcis in WaveLAN®Card v6.0.4 seems to have 2 resource id's, 128 & 129. Should one or the other or both be replaced? My guess is that the resource names ("WaveLAN/PCMCIA CIS v2.00" and "WaveLAN/IEEE CIS v1.01") should not be changed?
- I found the string also in the WaveLAN® Driver Resources file. Tried replacing it, but no effect. Does anything need to be done with that file?
- Any impact of 1150 card firmware on all this?
An indebted, and currently stumped, old-mac lover,
-steve
PS: I haven't been successful as yet at updating the card firmware, but the card is recognized in both Windows 98 and OpenBSD.
I've also looked for any "DRVR.ENET0" problems as mentioned elsewhere, but I don't think that fits my situation.
In case any other TrueMobile 1150 owner needs it, here is the output from a debug kernel on an OpenBSD machine to get the CISTPL string (82 bytes by my count).
