Hello!
Thanks in advance for anyones help... I have a strange issue with my IIGS. While playing almost any games, mostly Kings Quest, there seems to be an problem with using the mouse as when I move the mouse, a black trail appears behind the mouse cursor, and won't go away. I have no idea whats going on. Can someone help?
Here is a video I made to show you what's going on: https://vimeo.com/501359638
What games are doing this, other than KQ? Are you using original disks? Are you booting from the game diskettes, or running the software from a GS/OS installation; and if the latter, what GS/OS version? It could be a Toolbox issue, or it could be some werird copy protection mechanism, or just bad data on your disk.
I haven't seen that happen before, at all. The interesting part is that the prior drawn graphics are still in memory, as the mouse movement is erasing the current image and revealing the prior one.
How is this system configured, and what cards do you have installed and/or enabled?
Hey! Thanks for the reply!
Well, It seems that only the Sierra produced games are doing this... I tested more last night and the same thing happens. I thought it was others, but it was not.
I am not using original disks, I am using a 32meg disk image of a ton of Apple IIgs games from WhatIsTheAppleIIgs.com. So I am loading them stright from my harddrive and running them. I am running a clean install of GS/OS 6.0.1 with a full install of the OS. I do have a ReActiveMicro Drive/Turbo installed, and a 4MB Garrett's Workshop Memory card, both 2019/2020 versions. Also, this is a ROM Zero motherboard updated to a ROM One using a ReActiveMICRO ROM One upgrade.
Here is a video of whats loaded on the GS/OS and the issue if this may help-https://youtu.be/N8O84AG0auY
Okay, so I figured it out- It was one of my Desk Accessories, the Magnifier causing issues. I removed it and all works well! Thank you for your help!
I ran into the same problem with a lot of games, not only Sierra and just wanted to ask the same question. Thank you very much for this thread, I will try to remove the Magnifier later. If you don't hear from me here, it worked ;)
