Apple //c volume pot (did a bad one)

I've snapped my Apple //c volume pot when trying to 'repair' it. I have a nasty habit of making things worse before they get better. Does anyone know if there are any drop-in replacements? The plastic knob itself is fine, so I might be able to find something local or online that is close enough.

Does anyone know what resistance range that particular pot had?

I'll put in a request on the WTB forum just in case anyone has a genuine spare.

From what I have heard, the breaking of this pot is a common thing.

It's not your fault.

According to the "Apple IIc Technical Reference Manual" on pg.232: "There is a 500-Ohm variable resistor feeding anywhere from 0 to 5 volts to pin 5 of AUD to control the speaker volume. This potentiometer controls the volume of both the built-in speaker and whatever is plugged into the output jack".

Thanks, yeah I eventually found that same line in the reference manual. I took apart a new potentiometer hoping to fix things but had no luck, just a bit too fiddly.

Think my best bet is to wait and see if anyone has a spare //c volume knob somewhere, or even a //c logic board at the right price.
