Eprom burned! Now I have to figure out how to make a machine pin socket to accept the new Eprom.

Ok now that I have the Eprom burned now I need to have a socket made? Anyone in here know how to make a soldered machine pin socket? I have to figure out which pins to jump via small wires and add two long wires that I can attatch to a Single Pole Single Throw switch. This will be used for what's called Bank Switching. This will enable me to switch between a standard auto start f-8 to a non auto start f-8. It's just trying to figure out the pins and what does what will help in figuring out which ones to jump and cut.

Thanks.

Patrick.

Can you not just use a standard socket that will fit in the board?
I can only refer again to my Atari upgrades, but the TOS upgrade I've done involved putting a larger 27c010 eprom into a smaller 27c256 socket. The extra pins, plus a couple that needed to be jumpered and not attached to the socket, were simply bent up out of the way of the board and socket. Then they could be soldered to (and switch added in a similar mod), and the few connections that needed to be made from the bent pins were soldered to the exposed tops of the socketed pins.
That may not at all apply to the modifications you need to make :), but it's hopefully of some help.

(edit:) Do you have a link that describes the upgrade you're doing? I'd be interested in checking it out.

You could do something similar to what people used to do when they wanted to make an adapter to use 2716 EPROM in a II+. They'd put one socket on top of another with certain pins bent out or cut off. Then run wires between those pins and the base of the pins that they wanted the signal to go to. Then plug that double socket into the II+ ROM socket.

Hello Patrick,

According to your previous post, you are using a 2732 EPROM.
So pin 19 (A10) will be the "switch" between low (GND) and high (VCC) 2K bank in the EPROM.

The rest of the wiring informations can be found on Mike's web site.
