I think kensington made a set for os 9. I also have an old adb IR one with built in trackball, but it's less than optimal for use. I'm pretty sure both kensington, logitech, and one other brand that targetted mostly mac hardware (don't remember the name) all made decent RF units.
i bought a full sized wireless USB optical mouse new for $10 USD at biglots and i havent had a problem with it yet.
its grey and black with a scroll wheel its made by travel solutions the model number is 60-317 and it works great in OS 9.x and OS X tiger 10.4.8. its plug and play and no need to install drivers it works right out of the box as soon as you plug it in and start up the system. but in order to gain the use of the right click and the scroll wheel you will have to install USB overdrive
this mouse may be cheap to some (cause its not name brand) but in no way shape or form does it feel like its cheap. in reality it looks good and doesn't feel cheap. ebay had a few of them but i cant find them on there now. i was wanting to find a pic of in but i can only find the 60-315 model which looks nothing like it
I have one that is ADB. It works with the Mac and the Apple IIgs. No real problems. It is black, the keyboard is about an inch smaller than the IIgs original keyboard and has the mouse bulit into it, just a finger like pad.
The down side is the batteries do not last because there is no off switch. if you could turn them off when not in use they would last a lot longer. Thought of putting an Off switch on it, but have not had the time.
Also you can not do a warm reboot.
Not sure if these would work with OS 9, since I have no Macs set up with ADB at the moment.
Take Care
I also purchased this product @ BIGLOTS ($10, Red and Grey). The first time I followed the six Operating Instructions on the pkg and it worked fine. On subsequent plug-ins,however, it loads to step 5
",the device is working.")but the cursor does not move, i.e. "not working", it's stuck, and I have to resort to using the finger pad. Ever happen to you? Do you have a remedy, fix? There is no troubleshooting info on web that I know of. I sent this email to USA distributor sjdeals.com: "Product made in China: TRAVEL SOLUTIONS Wireless Optical Mouse Part # 60-344. Mouse not working (cursor does not move) after following all Operating Instructions. Please send stateside (US) phone no. and/or email address of MFG. Need to contact mfg tech support for troubleshooting advice."
all you need to do is hit the reset button on the bottom of the mouse (if one is there on your model) and press the button on the recever that plugs into the usb port. once that is done move the mouse and click the buttons it should staart working once it aquires the signal of the mouse and start to work. this is the inital phase to get it working so the 2 can aquire the signal to work with each other.
I have used a Logitech wireless keyboard/ mouse combo a few times on OS9. And the mouse I am currently using(also logitech) Is OS 9 compatible even though both products don't mention it. I guess as long as its RF and not something like bluetooth it seems to work... or maybe its just logitech... Anyway good luck and let me know what you find
Sorry i accidentally posted twice.
I have one of these from Big Lots too. Looks nice. Never actually worked. Tried a number of different Windows machines running XP Pro and Vista. The receiver is recognized by the PC, blinks when you press the code-matching button, the mouse responds when the code-matching button on bottom is pressed, but never syncs up. Tried a lot of "chicken-swinging" variations to this procedure, but nothing works. Know anything more about it?
