Heh. "Mustard Monster" pretty

Heh. "Mustard Monster" pretty much sums that sucker up. And the idea of putting in one of those ooooga horns is classic. If I ever got a beater, that's the first thing I'd do.

Don't be so against subwoofers. Not everyone who has a sub in their car is the type who drives around with it cranked up and making the car jump up and down. Both Dr. Bob and I (and probably many other forum members) have subs in our cars and we don't drive around like that.

You should write in to MTV and see if they'll put you on Pimp My Ride!

I agree on the subs part. Don't knock a 1 or 2 decent 10-8 inch subs that are not setup for booming. If they are setup for sound quality, they will give the system a nice sound to it.

Without the sub, your system would just sound like there is just something missing even if it stil sounds good.

I like that old volvo. Its neato looking. Reminds me of my kid's 85 nissan maxima interior.

Ok, I've updated the pictures

Ok, I've updated the pictures a bit... put in some more, changed the text so that the new pictures make sence, and I'll be rewriting the pages this weekend. Oh, and I'm going to add a new page, detailing, which will be on my interior and exterior cleaning jobs. Check back soon!

I'd like to see that engine after a nice cleaning and some tire dressing. I bet it would be quite old skool yet cool looking.

Just get a few cans of degreaser, spray it all down when hot, then wash off and then spray it all down with tire dressing (like the used car dealers do). It would look quite spiffy.

Nice. Reminded me of my 71 Volvo 244DL. The interial is almost identical with some minor different because of the equipment. I got a tach on the dash and it's auto, yours is manual and got AC.

BTW, sub could be nice, I got a 89 T-Bird with factory JBL sound system that included a sub. It's NICE. It's doesn't boom. Just give you that nice low end when you have the volume low.

could it be a difference betw

could it be a difference between countries? Like some cars that are released here in the states are released a couple years after they are released over in japan?

Now that you mentioned it, I think you are right. I had a 71 Newport. The Volvo was later. I bought used in 86. It was the last year the 240 series to have the overhead valve engine. I guess that placed it around a 75 or 76(It was about 10 years old when I picked it up).

My memory is going.... Sad

Yes, the only overhead valve

Yes, the only overhead valve engine was in 1975, the B20F.

Indeed. My sub has enough power to cause myself pain, but that's not what it's for. It really fills in the bottom end quite well and brings great richness to my music. Also at the highest levels I listen at, when I close the doors and stand outside of the car, it's barely audible. I built that stereo for me, not everybody I drive next to.

Same here

My amp/tube setup isn't pain-inducing capable, but it does it's job. I find that cars usually sound fairly lame without some low end, especially at highway speeds.

If I were you, I'd add subs.

If I were you, I'd add subs. I've been looking at an Infinity BassLink for my truck, because I have almost no space. About 7 Inches from the back of the seat to the back of the cab. (It isn't extended). Take advantage of the space you have and be able to hear the low end.

basslink

I've had a chance to hear a couple Infinity BassLink installs. It was great for the powered subs, but I found it more boomy than I'd normally prefer.

As Jeremy Clarkson showed, if

As Jeremy Clarkson showed, if theres one thing Volvo's are good at, its safty. Him and some other presenters on a car program some tests with some $150- cars, and one of them was to see how it survived when being driven at full speed into a brick wall. The other two cars just crumpled, the Volvo just took the wall out and kept on going!

The car commercial that stick

The car commercial that sticks with me more than any other of all time was the commercial for the volvo of aroudn 1983 vintange.

They took stock volvos and placed one of top of another until they had like 6 or 7 high. (to show the cars crush strength).

A close 2nd is the same volvo vintange time peroid where they drove a volvo off a tall cliff and it lands at the bottom, the nose crushes up, but the rest of the car is basically intact (the cabin looks untouched).
