New Year's Resolutions?

to become proficient in Bourne shell scripting

mine will be to not spend so much on alcohol or stuff that i just dont need....

I have a couple:

Finish one of two books... either PAPEM or CENTRAL.

Get my work sold in a gallery.

Clean out my closets... physically and metaphorically.

Writing.

I get an idea, and develop it, and then it dies, and I never look at it again.

The usual "quit smoking and start working out"

Stop taking things that I don't really need or can't really use because it's free. On a similar note try to turn my clutter I already have into things that I actually use.

Find a new job (there is just no money in social services)

Build up and learn to ride a fixed gear

Make sure I have health insurance solidly in place before attempting the last one

Quit smoking...get a life...get a job...

Usual eat better, lose weight, get fit and sort out stupid amount of computer junk resolutions apply to me.

However my main one is to buy a unicycle and learn to ride it.

I resolve to make sure all of you keep your resolutions.

That's right, folks... the Rev is going to grab his wiffle ball bat and his fly fishing rod and bring a little religion to ya if you don't keep yer resolutions this year!

To clarify, the wiffle ball bat is for the back of the head, and the fly fishing rod is for the back of the knee... and I'll let you pick which...

I think I ought to resolve finishing writing some of my stories too...

The telephones rang. A synchronous multi-tonal reverberation signaling the completion of the automated match of handset to handset. His instincts tripped up in the din, he had a sudden start and a moment of confusion at the sound. Each phones ring was different tonally although not quite unique. Of the dozens lining the walls, there were multi-varied pitches, squeals and clangs demanding attention. He reached for his receiver before the end of the second ring. He silently waited and listened in the earpiece at the single ring tone playing into one ear and the continued yet quickly quietening din of the other phones in to the other ear. At the end of the third ring he was returned to multi-tonal ringing in both ears, though slightly asynchronous and more subdued from the handset. The fourth ring cut off sharply as the clatter of an antique bell died away in both ears. A few seconds ticked by in silence and he savored the sound of the phones being replaced by the breath and shuffle of nervousness.
"Hi," he said into the mouthpiece. It was nearly on a cue as half a dozen others said similar openings and others then made responses. Nervous seconds ticked again.
"Hey," came a sudden breathy reply in his ear.
Option Type A (gender) was spot on. Female. Not surprising.
