I remember a while back hearing about someone putting a CD-RW in an old clamshell ibook. However, i can't seem to find the article anywhere. Does anyone know if this can be done successfully? if so what drive is best and any other pointers will be welcomed. thanks to all who reply!

I threw a Sony CD-RW/DV drive into a 300MHz clamshell. It could burn CD's. DVD playing on the other hand was awful
go for it... *gives thumbs up*
if you need the manual, PM Me and i will send it to you using yousendit.com
Your 466 clamshell can play DVD movies, so I say go for a combo CDR/W/DVD drive, or even a DVD-R drive if you can afford a few more bucks. The price difference is small compared to a plain CDR/W drive. Plus, you'll want to be able to install software shipped on DVD (more common nowadays - eg: Tiger.)
