Another thread raises the issue of CC pages missing in action. Let's start to address the question, by assembling a list of the important pages:
1. The original 'Takky' site with the Power Colour Classic upgrade.

The old forum! It's great that Mr. Owad has kept them around, let's make sure that continues. Lots of great info in there.
If you give me a day or two, I can make archives of all of these sites for future reference. Archive.org works good enough for sites no longer living, but it simply isn't that thorough.
How do we preserve a copy of a forum; do we need the 'engine' which drives it?
Also, what about the original CC forum, before we moved here. Does anyone use that?

That's fine by me; I'm not looking for work. Could you then ZIP them and let people request them, please, on the condition that they do _not_ put them on the www - we don't want to raise copyright issues too starkly.

I am interested in preserving this information too... I think it should be archived. Possibly in the form of a CD/DVD that can be downloaded as an ISO from a host. Just an idea.
I've used Web Devil a couple times to archive sites.

Used it twice, both times the sites (sci-fi model sites - very picture heavy) have vanished.
I like the idea of having images of the sites, but please keep in mind other peoples' sites...well, they should probably be asked before anyone starts offering someone else's site as a download.

I have your site, the FAQ, MISUTHiKU's page, and the CCSCC all backed up and they will all be burned to DVD on my next backup. My policy on archives is that I will put a site up for 2 days and then delete it.
I feel like if it was served up online once, its fair game to archive it and burn it to CD. There's nothing to stop anyone from doing that. I think as long as the pages are not modified in ANY way it should be fine.
I'm sure you're morally right, though probably not legally. As well as being unaltered, we need to keep the URL details, and also the date of recording. When I get a spare week, most of my stuff will get tidied up. The problem is that since going to X I haven't found a really nice simple HTML-creator for nice simple pages. Any suggestions?

The program I use for archiving adds a comment at the start of the page with the date and time of archiving.
Not CC-specific, but very, very useful: http://macfaq.org/ and its sub-pages.

hit the archive.org wayback machine and you should be able to recover a fair amount of whatever site has gone down.
Chunky data files aren't archived to my knowledge however.
The problem with archive.org is that it is focused on getting as much information as possible. Their spider is not terribly thorough as far as anything not HTML.
It seems to me that the best way to archive these sites is to get a bunch of mirrors of those sites up (letting the users know, of course, that the page they're viewing is a mirror). Or, here's an idea; if we gave backups of those sites to Archive.org, do you think they'd put them up? It's a long shot, but you never know until you try, right?
After reading this thread I went out on my own and archived what I could find, as my CC and upgrade parts have been boxed for several years now. I'm hoping to dig the stuff out and get it working right (did the lower-voltage VGA mod and have the pincushion problem, not fixed to my liking). However, there were a few sites no longer available, and I know there are holes in my data.
Is any of the data that's been archived being made available? I'd be happy to share what I've been able to capture and want to fill in the knowledge gaps in my data.
Huh...hadn't thought about the copyright implications. But unless you claim the material as your own, are you violating copyright? Especially when it was originally posted in a public forum to share with anyone that found it.

The timestamp is visible in the directory listing. I've been making my own archives of A/UX stuff for several months now - much of this old Mac info is on the verge of being lost.
I was given two Color Classics, so now I'm going to start my mod project since I have extras. However, the original 'Takky' site is g-o-n-e and all the still-active sites I can find reference that page for the connector wiring diagram. Can someone help a brother out...?
