Right after I moved my monitor (B&W 17" Studio Display CRT) to another place, I noticed that the screen at 1024x768 75Hz was a little shaky. So, I started to mess around and noticed that the 'shaking' steadily increased as the refresh rate went up. At 1600x1200 60Hz, all is well. Even at the 640x480 67Hz, the shaking is more of a 'wiggling'.
I'm started to suspect this of being interference from something else. Does it sound like interference to you?
to degauss it.. check to see if there are any speakers around it and if there is another monitor by it, move them away/
Well, I found out what was messing around with my monitor.
I had left my room for a bit and came back to find the screen shaking. Before shaking my fist and cursing the evil gnomes that taunt me, I thought about what I had done when I left my room. So, I went in my living room and turned off the ceiling lights and what do you know. Apparently my living room lights are causing some type of interference.
Without actually solving the problem, I'll say this case is closed.
Out of interest, do you have fluorecent / energy saving lights in the living room?
Nope.
I went ahead and moved my computer desk not long ago to fix this. Luckily there isn't any interference on the other side of my room.
