My 540c died. It's OS was 7.5. My back up is all on floppies. I need to know if I can install Quicken5 on an Apple 1400 with OS8 and have this mac read my old stuff. I'm in a real bind. Help please. Riftzie

go ahead, it should read the floppies right off the bat. And OS 8 will run like a charm on it
I don't know about Quicken 5's compatibility with OS8 (frankly, I'd be surprised if Q5 didn't work), but the rest will work fine. Just be sure the PB1400 comes with a working floppy Expansion Bay Module . . .

thanks for reply. Now I'm trying to choose between a 1440cs and a 5300c. any suggestions? riftzie
Easy answer, the PowerBook 1400cs, offers much more upgrade options than the 5300. The 5300 is acclaimed to be THE worst PowerBook ever.
