imac g3 dvd problems

I have a imac g3 400 mhz dvd. I have not been able to play dvd's on it recently. It has 512 meg of ram and running 10.3.9. When I try to play a dvd I get an error message that says: ininialization error error:-5000.
Thanks for any help.

Probably time for a new DVD d

Probably time for a new DVD drive. The disk plays in other players OK?
