I've got one of the blue and white g3 monitors and I'd like to use it with my 9600. Unfortunately when I hook it up I get no video and an amber power button. I'm using a standard Mac video to vga adapter. Is there something about that sort of monitor that would make it incompatible with older macs? Any help would be appreciated.

IIRC those tend to die. I don't know the symtoms off hand, but you might search for them. I think it was Rev. Darkness that had several to fix, but it's been a while since that thread died off.
Oops, should have mentioned that the monitor does work. I've tried it with my PC and I have no problems.
What video card are you using?? I tried a ATI XClaim in a 9650 and got a gray screen you could barely read. It could be a Video card problem. A IX Mico Twin Turbo 4 or 8 meg works ok as will a ATI Rage 128, 16meg vram video card
