i just got my new pioneer DVR-110D in the mail today. i installed it into my Beige G3 AIO rev 2 logic board, rev b rom hooked it up and put every thing back togeather and fired it up it booted into OS 9.2.2 fine and i installed roxio toast 5.1.2 and it burns fine.
Ok i was happy untill i put the system to sleep and a few hours later i woke it up and seen the desktop apeer and then it froze not even able to move the mouse pointer so i forced restarted and reset the pram and booted back into 9.2.2 put it to sleep and tryed to wake it up again seen the desktop apeer in the monitor and froze again.
so now im posting here to see if any one out there has a beige G3 with a pioneer DVR-110D installed with the same problems and i want to know is there a fix out there to solve this problem or is this a known problem.
also i tryed to first burn a cd-r useing the built in burn software in OS 9.2.2 in the utillity's folder but say's its not supported but the 9.2.2 apple system profiler say's this
DVD-R/CD-RW
Mac OS partitions: 0
Removable media: Yes
Vendor: pioneer
Revision number: 1.11
Product ID: DVD-RW DVR-110D
Apple disk burning: Supported
ok now if the system profiler say's it supports disk burning shouldent the built in burning program support burning with this drive or what??
thanks to all who respond
I guess ive stumped every one on this one
I've got the same drive in my Mac G4 (10.3.9) and in the past i have had some difficulty with it reading disks let alone writing to them. But no crashing on wake up.
Do you have X installed on the machine?
EDIT: Apple system profiler (FYI)
PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-110D:
Manufacturer: PIONEER
Model: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-110D
Revision: 1.11
Drive Type: CD-RW/DVD-RW
Disc Burning: Vendor Supported
Removable Media: Yes
Detachable Drive: No
Protocol: ATAPI
Unit Number: 0
Socket Type: Internal
PS: I have that utility (which for the life of my i cannot remember the name of) that shows the drive as apple supported installed on it as well.
EDIT EDIT: Patchburn !!
yea OS X can sleep and wake up fine with or without patchburn installed. and it even works better when patchburn is installed wich add's burn support to the built in burning software and itunes.
i just wished that it didnt lock up under os 9.2.2 when you try to wake it up when you put it to sleep. i got the energy saver set to when its idle it only shuts the monitor down. only if some one made extentions/drivers for os 9.2.2 it wouldent do that i know it will never happen. cause that is whats happening the extention/driver its useing now dont put it to sleep right and dont wake the drive up.
it will read cd's and dvd's just fine but have to use roxio toast to be able to burn in os 9.2.2 . does your Mac have 9.2.2 that it can boot to to see if it has problems waking up when you put it to sleep
I will try first thing tomorrow morning
B.
i installed 9 on a blank hard drive and booted the machine up with no additional apps or utilities. The machine was ok with Sleeping and Wake-from-sleep. But like in 10.3.9 it was very slow when it came to mounting cd's and dvd's.
I wonder if its cause i have a beige G3. Or OS 9.2.2 need's blows up and have a fresh install of 9.2.2 put on the hdd. what revision number is your drive mine is 1.11 and what driver version it is mine is 1.4.7 look in the apple system profiler under devices and volumes
********UPDATE**********
I now have burn support with iTunes and the built in burning software under 9.2.2 with my Pioneer DVR-110D. i was e-mailed a extention named PioneerCDR to replace the one in system/extentions/authoring support by the same name extention and it works. But it didnt cure my wakeup freeze i think it is a extention/driver that need's replaced someware that dont like this drive
