I know this has probably been bashed before, but I have finally spent the time to make a reliable, universal, working, and most importantly, free, way to transfer mac files from a PC to older mac.
I would paste it in here, but doing the images would be a pain.

Im not trying to advertise my site, its just I already have it published there and it will save me time and I wont have to do the images again and stuff. There seems to be many ways to do this on the net but I think this is a lot easier.
I guess I'm having a little bit of trouble understanding why all of those steps are necessary. I've downloaded files for a Classic Mac on a PC before and I didn't have to bother with half of those steps.
Here's the procedure I have always used:
(b) download files to, or copy files from PC hard drive to floppy disk in PC floppy drive.
(c) remove floppy disk from PC floppy drive.
(d) carry floppy disk from PC to Macintosh.
(e) insert floppy disk in floppy drive of Macintosh computer.
(g) eject floppy disk and/or shut down Macintosh.

I have never had any problems using the method that I have described above. It works and it's free.
Of course, then I got much smarter and put both my Macs and my PC on the same network so I could just "drag and drop" files from the PC's hard drive to my Mac's hard drive. Nothing to it... Quick & easy...
on a sidenote to the original poster, I've used transmac pretty well especially also to look at the mac os cd too for no reason on family's pc

It has always worked for me. Before I got my Internet connection at home, I used to use the computers at the library to download files. I would just copy the files to floppy disks and bring them home for use on my Mac. I have never had any problems at all.
When I did eventually get broadband Internet here at home, I used the PC to download files originally; it was faster and had a more modern browser. I didn't have any problems with sneaker-net then either.

it doesnt work for programs, it works for normal files. Becuase putting the mac programs not encoded with binhex or macbinary on a pc floppy or pc disk, it strips the resource fork of the program.
