i would love this machine 8 CPU Opteron Board.

It features 8 CPU's on a Board and is 64-bit. Can use up to 128GB's Ram. This machine looks like a good candidate for video editing and rendering.

It's just drool worthy

heh..

Imagine OS X running on this Beast.

Such a shame that the XServe Cluster is limited to 2 CPU's. Tsk tsk tsk. You would think apple could do better for performance computing

I'm willing to bet that that is what the configuration is for. I don't see 8 ZIF's total, so I image that that is a Dual-Core board. I wonder what else it could do besides rendering video. I just image renting out the Processor time out for # calculations. I bet it would pay for itself. I wonder if it would find the next prime number easily.

That board is COMPLETE AND UT

That board is COMPLETE AND UTTER CRAP. My company sold 8 of those to a big customer of ours. At no time has more than 6 of them been operational, and not a single one of the technicians at the company is able to make them work. We have to load them up with the customer's hardware, send them to iWill and then *maybe* a month later they will send a machine back with beta BIOS on it that doesn't work and has spelling errors.

You can't possibly skip this product fast enough. Buy Tyan's 4881 8way box instead.

It has a second board beneath the first one with 4 more sockets and 16 more ram slots. They connect via a hypertransport backplane.
