Been sorta collecting Mac laptops lately and what dropped into my lap -- as it were -- from out of nowhere? A PB 550c. Yup, the one only sold in Japan and has the Japanese characters on the keyboard. It's got some problems but it'll make a really cool restoration project. Had to someone who might care . . .

Floppy jammed in the drive, some weird stripe running through the screen. One of the batteries won't fit in the slot. I/O door missing. Just tedious repair stuff. Gonna strip it and replace the vid cable and replace the floppy drive and see how it does. Yeah, I've always wanted one too.

When I get a decent camera I will. My next big purchase. Also got a concept for a totally cool mod/hack (different laptop) so I want a camera for that too. But I'll post 'em when I got 'em.
All I can say is fix it up, get a PCMCIA module, and call the thing badass! I've got a beatup 520c, and I can only imagine how much nicer the screen and full '040 makes it.

I had to replace the floppy and then wipe the drive to get this thing to a stable position. It's only got like 8MB ram so it looks like 7.6 is going on there. My days of surfing the web on a 68k machine are loooooong gone. Even for email. But thanks for the input.
