The logic board on my 15" titanium 500Mhz Powerbook G4has died, so I'm thinking of buying another powerbook with a cracked screen and putting my good screen into it. Apple misdiagnozed my problem in April, and put a new 80 G hard drive in, so I could use that too.
I've read through the forum topic "titanium powerbook screen transplant woes," which suggests that my screen might work in other model powerbooks, does anyone have any info on which models, titanium or aluminun, I can be sure will work with it? Also, Apple replaced my screen in 2003-- is there any way I can tell whether it is the same model as the original screen would have been?
I found this on http://mywebpages.comcast.net/macdan/tibook_display.html:
>Screens:

* AU Optics Corporation - PN B152W01
* LG/Philips PN LP152W1

>The earlier LCDs work fine on the DVI models, but at the lower rez of course. Interestingly, a DVI LCD worked on my 400mhz test unit, but it displayed only the lower rez output to the upper left of the screen. It had 128 pixels of odd static-like artifacts at the right edge and repeated pixels from the top at the bottom edge.
your screen will work with any titanium model that has a vga port on the back.
Which I think means 400/500 or667?
I was hoping I could patch together something more powerful.
it will work with the 400/500/550/667. only the vga models.
You can get a pdf Service Manual for your PB here http://www.whoopis.com/computer_repair/ May assist you in the switch.

Or even better, sell off your old 'Book bit by bit and just buy whatever you want.
BTW, glad you found my TiBook page useful. It's not really complete but until I get around to updating it'll have to do.

I think I'll go with the suggestion to sell it off as parts, then I can upgrade to a Mac Mini without it all costing me that much.
The manual will help with pulling it apart though.
