Okay, so I got a great deal on a Lime Green clamshell iBook that my school was selling. The problem is...I don't really want a computer that is -that- green. Can anyone suggest how I can change the color? Maybe the panels? It would be cool to customize it like the newer ibooks, but I am fine with it being any color but green.
Thanks for your time.
Is it really possible for us to get basicly two of the same questions in one day?
i like green... and i have a blue ibook... i wish it could be done on mine...
*edit*
i have a 300 mhz, and you have a 366...
No, he has a 466 model, those lime greens were SE, they are the ones with firewire.
You must remove all of its plastic sheilding. Then you paint the inside. Or you can put some colored paper in there, to see how it looks. The stripe of green is a hard one, you must figure out a way to paint the inside of it. I did that to my graphite once and it looked really cool, if you don't like it, and mess up you're computer, you can replace the whole shells for around 200.00, replaced and all.. If you would like, and this would be very smart, you can buy the shells off of me. I will ship them to you and you can experiment on them without damaging your computer, then if you like it, either try to put them on yourself, or send your computer to me and I will do the labor for an extra 60.00. email me at daneshubert@mac.com or post your response. All prices are negotiable. Labor on this is very diffucult, espically the top cover!!!
My (humbly-offered) suggestion:
The Lime iBooks are cult classics and command a premium in the resale market. Recent eBay results range from $365 to $899 (search completed auctions for (lime*,green) ibook .) You should offer it up for sale (eBay will get you the most $$$), take the proceeds and buy something the color of which you already like, or can more easily color yourself, eg: an iceBook.
