Hi,
I´ve got a G3 700 mobo. It only works with battery-not with power supply. There is always a short circuit on the power board (tried three dc boards-nothing become better) so the battery can not be loaded.
I want to use this board for modding-but I need a power supply. So I opened the battery. There are 4 wires: –,+10,8V,+7,2V+3,6V.
I made a dividing bridge with resistors to achieve the voltages using a 12 V powersupply, put out the batteries and connected the wires.
The voltage on my fake battery are ok but the ibook won´t start.
Does anybody have any kind of experience with that?
Is there any way to get this board to work ??
thanks hannes
Just read your problems with dud battery.Mines the same and likewise built a resistor bridge. 4* 200 ohms. each battery pair is 3.6 volts giving 13.4 volts total .
I connected it all up also but to no avail. When I press the battery test switch all I get is one led flashing indicating a flat battery, I would have expected to get 4 leds.
Dont know what to do next but remember reading somewhere about resetting the system ??
Cannot help otherwise but would like to know more.
Cheers Martyn
PS Just came across an article, it seems the electronic circuit within the battery does NOT monitor voltage but the A/H capacity of the batteries. The resistor network therefor will not work.
Any other ideas???
Yeah, give it back to apple saying that the logic board is dead. that model is covered by the logic board replacement program. It might even come back as a g4 with a new battery.
Apple would never replace it with a new G4 iBook, well, not unless it had had the board replaced about six times...
If you have the whole iBook in unmodified condition, do take it back to Apple.
The iBook G3s had different logic boards than the G4s. An iBook G4 mobo certainly would not fit.
