Anyone know a way around the ZIP drive password? I haven't been able to use my disks for about six months and now I've forgotten the passwords that I put on them. I'm also trying to avoid shipping them to Iomega and paying for them to do it. Thanks.

Not sure if this works on both PC and Mac...or for that matter which system this originated on...
1. Insert a blank disk into the zip drive
2. Give this disk a password (it can be any password, as long as you remember it)
3. Using the IoMega toolset, set the zip drive's sleep time to a large value (such as 1 minute)
4. Wait a while until the drive "spins down". You will hear the drive stop spinning.
5. Take a pin or a straighten paper clip and stick it into a hole in the back of the Zip drive. This will manually eject the blank disk.
6. Insert the disk you want to access (the one you don't know the password to)
7. now use the IoMega toolset to remove the password. When prompted for the password use the password from step (2).
Thanks for the help. I found that trick all over the net, but it only works on the old SCSII drives. The one I've got is USB and has no manual eject hole on the back of it. Also, even if there was a way to manually eject the disk, the toolset doesn't have a sleep timer setting. Anyone have any other ideas? I'm running OSX 10.3.5.
If all else fails, take the drive apart and manually eject it. There should be a lever somewhere either on the top or bottom to make the drive eject the disk.
My USB zip has a manual eject - its a small on the rear.
