I like to think of myself as a reasonably intelligent person so I almost didn't post this for fear that my mother and father see this and thus, wonder if I had lost my last functioning neuron... anyway...
I have seen a lot of these free mac mini offers and I really want to know if anyone here in this circle has either tried it, and if so, did you get your mac? Lastly, what thoughts do you all have about this offer?
Please note: to the forum administrator, I am not posting this question so that I can join, then post a link here! I value the comments here!
Thanks all,

Well, I haven't heard much about the Mac mini offer. A friend of mine swore by all of the gratis offers for a while. He wound up getting an iPod, a dell desktop, and a TV with built-in dvd/vhs. So, I know that at least *some* do work. I saw these items with my own eyes out of the boxes from gratis. All of that said, it is tough to get people to follow an offer in the first place let alone now that everyone and his brother is trying to do it. Also, who knows what they are really doing with your data? For me, it just wasn't worth the bother.
I was considering the cost versus the effort, if that makes any sense, and frankly, it seems when all is said and done, the idea of "recruiting" others for this offer seems invasive. Or am I just looking at this the wrong way...
No, I think you're looking at it exactly the right way. And think of it this way as far as the effort part goes. For a free iPod, you need to sign-up five people. Assume you can harrass four of your friends to get involved in this. After begging, brow beating, blackmailing, bothering, bribing or whatever your method, if you can't sign up a fifth...you're screwed. You just handed gratis (or whichever company you're using) exactly what they want. They get thousands and thousands of referrals without having to give out anything because it is so tough to get so many people to follow up on something that seems so damned sketchy. So, after a bunch of effort, it is very likely you will wind up with squat.
There's no such thing as a free lunch.
This reeks of a pyramid scam.

After some rather intense research and several Sprites, I have come to the conclusion (and this is only my opinion) that whether or not this is legit gets lost because of the number of copycat sites. It seems that what may have started out as a "good" idea has become, like so many "opportunities" on the net, another pyramid scheme where the first in make all the money and the rest are left wondering "why isn't this working?"
drbob - maybe so, but competition is good. besides this is no pyramid scheme.. There are many sites that are truly living up to the hype. For example, Free Mac Mini is very professional, responds to user queries, and most importantly ships merchandise in a timely manner. I recommend all open-minded people to check it out.
Those things are liget. How do I know? IM USING THE MINI I GOT.
Proof?
The problem is how much of your soul and personal info are you willing to giveout to the highest bidder, and anyone else who want a new spam list just so you can save $500 on a mini? If they were giving away new cars it'd be another story...
