Hard drive from PC into iMac

Hi, just wondering if I can take a IDE drive from my pc and put it directly into an iMac, initialize it, partition it, and do a system restore on the new hard drive?

Hmm...

33mHz seems a little low for an iMac.
Are you sure it's not 333mHz?
Anyways, it should be quite possible, i'm not sure about the OS 8.6 thing though.

IDE drives in iMac

You should be able to swap the original IDE drive for a new one from a PC. Study the arrangment of the jumpers on the original drive, and make sure the new drive is jumpered correspondingly, or the iMac might not see the new drive.

Disassembling an iMac to get at the drives is a bit of a pain, compared to opening up other Mac models, but one can do it if one has the nerve.
