The Classic SE/30 haunting my basement

I can't part with the dusty old thing. But it's no longer such and expensive part of my meeger techno horde that I won't modify it, so the kindergardener in residence will get a huge kick out of it.

I want a color screen though. I may have to gut it since I'm pretty sure there is no slick and easy way to replace the b&w display with a color display and external adapter and cd rom drive and hdd and floppy. We still on rare occasion use those. Although, if I could find a network adapter and squish it safely in there too, I'd be willing to sacrifice the floppy, since I do have an external floppy for emergencies.

I'm also wondering what kind of interface/connector the skinny little cd rom drive in one of my old toshiba's has. Have to look and hope. Maybe I could find some of those teeny 20mb hard drives? Wonder if they come in bigger sizes?

I was thinking of painting the case with his favorite cartoon characters, but I might hate the sight of the poor thing. So now I'm thinking of modding the case so much that it may be hard to recognize it as a mac. Not sure how to hide the mouse and key board, too bad I can't go wireless with those. Even if I could he'd manage to lose the mouse in two days.

If it will do color display to an external monitor and I make a new case shaped like a gold fish but big enough for all the extra stuff it might work out as color se/30?

But then what to do with the b&w CRT?

It would be totaly cool if I could steal the LCD from that Toshiba too...

Could be wall mountable too?
