I like it!
Great work Vince. Here's my case for my Replica-1.

I'll need to modify it with the new (old) keyboard. I'll probably inset the keyboard into the sloping front like you did.

Here is my finished case. I've decided to sell this one and build 1 more.

I love it!
Can you post some pics on the development of it? Or better yet, some ideas/tools you used for it?

Thanks for the compliment, a lot of time went into this case. Since people have been wanting a built system with case I'd thought I would give it a try. You need a router, table saw, some type of power sander and other misc tools to get the job done.
I have posted it for sale on my site if anybody is interested. With all the time I have in this case, the price is extremely reasonable. It's a little rough around the edges but so is the original.

dude thats a nice lookin case but i think 499 is a bit much. what did it cost you to make that 20? i could crank those babies out from 9th grade woodshop and sell then for 25. im sure people would rather spend 499 on a mac mini.
this says it all:

Har! Proof in the pudding.
That's really close looking to the one in the Smithsonian. Well done!
Your case looks great! I've just finished a Replica 1 and now I'm looking to build a suitable case. Are the case demisions available for the case you made? Also I have an apple II+ keyboard but noticed it's slightly different from the original Woz apple 1. To me it looks like a SWTPC keyboard. However, Does anyone know for sure who the mfgr of the keyboard was?
The original Apple I did not come with a keyboard (or a case, or a power supply, or a monitor). Woz and Jobs built only the circuit boards. As far as I can tell, there were no cases for the original Apples. A dealer of Apple-Is had the now-famous cases builtand installed the circuit board in them, since, like now, people wanted a "complete" computer. When I was buying MY Apple-I, the dealer then brought out an ASCII keyboard and a "modulator" kit for the monitor and added it to the sale. I have no idea what brand the keyboard was, and since it long ago went to the trash pile (curses!) I can't tell you what it was.
A couple of weeks ago I got my ASCII keyboard for my Replica and discovered that the Replica's case was just a but narrow to fit the new keyboard into it. So I've been building a new case out of walnut and maple wood. This one isn't a duplicate of the famous Apple case, but is in the style of the case my original Apple-1 was in.
I really like the two-tone effect. Good choice of woods!
What is the ascii keyboard from?
Looks like Franklin Ace 2000 keyboard, I got the same from Vince Briel with the Replica.
Larry, you've done a great job. The template for that keyboard looks easier than the Apple II style. Congratulations on a nice replica.
Can you post some more pics? Like the inside, back, etc?
What about some measurements?
Thanks!

I'll try to get some plans together, pictures, measurements, etc. and either post them here or make them available for downloading.
Tom Owad has been kind enough to put my plans for my Replica Case on-line. For those of you who want to build what I built, or just want some ideas , hints, dimensions, or guidlines, here it is:

I had already built the case before I decided to write the instructions, so if I've left out steps, or haven't been clear on parts of this, contact me.
Just wait for the transparent acrylic one I have planned....it's going to be impressive.
Nice case Vince !!! i have just bought tonight some MDF for my Apple I case. I have no idea what to do first :((((
My biggest problem is the keyboard !!!!!!
I have posted the first photos of my Apple case in my image gallery.
Nice Job! I especially like the wooden Apple Logo on the front of the case. Where did you come by that?
Larry Nelson
i wanted something different but homebrew stile ...with a bit o patience's and a thin soldering iron i done the job
well, i have never done wood work in my life, i done the case in 3 hours, and another 20 mins to do the logo.
i just had my jigsaw and my old school ruler.
