if the ibook has firewire you

if the ibook has firewire you can start it up in target disk mode as an external hd for the newer mac. and then install this way. installing over the network will be painfully slow.

It'd be slow, but if you can

It'd be slow, but if you can drop the DVD ROM into a USB enclosure it should be able to boot from it. If you've got a FW enclosure all the better.
