I'm interested in buying a rather scrappy G3 wallstreet and then using the screen, motherboard, hd etc (all the innards) to make a sort of tablet Mac.
I don't intend to build in a touch screen, all I want to do is build a custom case which mounts a wacom volito or similar in front of the screen. It might then be possible to use inkwell to input basic text, but it'll mainly be for reference.
I was just curious as to what you guys thought of the idea, It's going to be reasonably large with that tablet bit, I might be better off just making it inputless and then plugging the tablet in. Hmm, it all hinges on how much I can get a cheap wallstreet for and weather or not I can bring myself to gut it.
hmmm what would be best is buy a usb touchscreen, that goes over the laptops screen.

Yeah, I've seen touch screen type ones like the recent ibook hack, but i'd rather use a wacom as pressure levels are an issue as well as cost.
I might run a test with my 1400cs powerbook which I almost never use. If I could get my hands on a cheap ADB/serial tablet, hmm. Any suggestions? I'll have a look on ebay. As for the case. As I'd like it to be quite rugged I was thinking of mounting a clear plastic sheet across the whole front including the screen. I could mask off the screen area and spray the underside a nice colour. Ohh, ideas.
