Cool HP Integral PC

I found one of these the other day:

http://www.old-computers.com/museum/computer.asp?st=1&c=145

Pretty cool little portable HP with built-in inkjet printer. It runs an old HP version of Unix and even uses a mouse. I found it at a recycler and originally came from NASA (benefit of living in central FL.). The little HP fires up and seems to work. It's in excellent shape but needs a mouse.

Any ideas on what to do with this thing ? What it can do ?
Ever used one ? or the HP Unix ?

And where can I get a mouse ? It has a RJ45 type (kinda) connector on the mouse and keyboard.

Any info anyone may have would be great,

TIA,

you could probably find the mouse on ebay, most of the old hp-ux workstations ive seen have used that type of mouse.

This is AppleFritter...

...so naturally you should hack it & put an iMac or G4 logic board in it, then use it for a server or something. From the specs listed, it looks to be pretty much useless for any real world work as is, so what have you got to lose?

But just think of the notoriety you could gain! Smile

Hey that thing is cool. Unix

Hey that thing is cool. Unix in rom and other goodies. Man, that must have been an awesome machine back in the day.

I got something simliar (only in form, not in function). It is an ibm 486 lunchbox computer. It has the plasma screen and is simliar in size to yours (maybe a bit smaller).

I just like plasma screens. They are so cool retro.

i often wondered if a vga output from one of those mini motherboards could drive one of those plasma screens (the one i have has windows 3.1 and it is a vga display, i think).

HP made adapters to convert t

HP made adapters to convert the HP-IB interface to use a typical PS/2 keyboard and mouse.

Cool,

I'll have to see if I can find one.

Thanks,

If I'm lucky Surplus Exhcange

If I'm lucky Surplus Exhcange might still have some around. If I'm not then they got sent of for meltdown and recycling. I could use one at some point too, and I can't remember if I bought any there when I last saw them. If I do have any, and more than one, I'd be glad to offer it so you can get that cool machine going.

Oh, and look for HP-HIL, not just HP-IB... ::)

Thanks Jon,

If you can get an extra that would be great, just LMK.

Thanks,
