old style PDP/Altair front panel

Has anyone heard of someone building a programmers front panel like on a PDP or the Altair on the Apple ][?

I know that it is not needed, because I can do the same thing with the keyboard and screen, but I like blinking lights!

I have seen some being run from a PC running an emulator of a PDP-8 and 11. I just thought something similar would be cool on an Apple ][.

If you're just interested in

If you're just interested in output:

1. Place and LED on each data and address line.

2. Wire up a single-step circuit (the one in the Apple I Operations Manual should work) so you can step through instructions one at a time.

Thanks for your reply. While

Thanks for your reply. While I may just have to settle for output, I would like input as well.

I'll check out the Apple 1 manual.

Thanks,
James
