Closest I can think of...

would be to change the USB device dismounted noise- then you'd get it for USB memory sticks etc....

It's almost the same! Especially seeing as x86s have a lot of trouble seeing whether or not a disk is actually in the drive.

I'm betting that the standard

I'm betting that the standard floppy drives (with the 30 pin floppy cable) would NOT be able to do that easily. They are just dumb drives, they can't detect if a floppy has been insterted or not unless you actaully try reading something off the drive.

For that matter, there is no Eject command for the floppy drive when you right click on the floppy drive icon since it is a purely dumb device unlike the standard Mac drive which is intelligent and had the autoject fuction and which detects that a floppy has been inserted. Standard floppy drives are still basically mechanical in nature whereas Mac floppies have been electronic in nature since the first ones (in regards to their inject/ejects).

However I wonder if usb floppy drives would be able to work differently?

didnt mean to be deceptive! but.....would it be possible to add an entry to the regristry? (or just make a small program that detects opening/closing of the drive tray)

Or better - small program tha

Or better - small program that opens the drive's bay and plays the barfing sound. If the drive is openable only from the computer then it will get even more mac-ish. You can ask a programmer to write you that program which will be ,let's say in the system tray - when you click the computer barfs the disc out.
