I picked up another CC and not feeling like doing any real upgrading right now, I just dropped a LC550 motheboard into it. On restarting it I noticed ther was no startup boing an in fact no sound at all. With the original CC motherboard ther is in fact sound. I then tried another LC550 and two LC520 motherbords and I have no sound with them either. Trying them in another CC fails to produce sound too even though it too works with a CC or LC575 motherboard. I don't recall reading anything about the lack of sound anywhere.

Have you tested the 550 board to make sure it in fact makes sound? The audio chip, or the speaker connector on the edge connector, may be bad.
It's not just one board but two 550 and two 520 boards. All four look alright visually. I've tied them with headphones and get the startup chime through the headphones but nothing with any of these four boards through the built-in speaker. I haven't done any more testing as of yet. I'm wondering if there's an issue that I haven't heard about. I'm hoping someone else has this setup and can verify whether they have or haven't sound.
