Macinjosh's MacBook: Not Happy

Seriously, seriously not happy. Sad

I love the speed of my new 'Book, but 802.11n has been a complete joke, and now, I have got multiple cracking and chipping at the bottom-right of the top palm rest, as well as indentations where the top screen has "nubs" for lack of a better term to keep the screen from resting on the keyboard.

Seems like the crack is either right where the bottom outer case plastic supports it, to the left, or right past where it mates up with the top, same deal.

I'm gonna have to drive to the capital of Iowa, some 3 hours away, to get this looked at by an actual Apple Store / Genius Bar.

I saved for this, man. I gave up on a car I've been wanting for years, and got this instead, thinking, "It's a Mac? How could I be going wrong?"

Just don't know anymore.

Why not just call Apple Support and have them send you a shipping box? They don't do most laptop repairs at the Apple Stores anyway; they ship them off to Apple repair centers.

What version of OS X are you

What version of OS X are you running? There were some wireless issues under X.5.2 but they seem to be better under X.5.3.

Good call, except for I anticipate that they may not see my networking troubles, for one.. though I have experienced it with AirPort APs as well.

As for the other question about which X I've got, I'm on 10.5.4 and I've tried everything from 10.5 thru to it and the issue's never gone away. In fact, it's present in Win XP Pro SP3, to rule out it being a software issue completely.

Not to turn this into my other post, but I gave most of the info about the trouble here:
http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7005392#7005392

Hadn't tried .3, .4 or WinXP at that point, hadn't tried but one AP at that point either, where now I've been around 4 total that show the issue.

Also, I've run out of phone support. I hear that I have the ability to call yet, based on the fact that I had a ticket open before it expired, but I haven't any idea if there's a time cap to that.

Make sure you back up everyth

Make sure you back up everything before you send it off. Apple doesn't guarantee your data, and from events retold on the 68kmla forum, it seems a wipe and reinstall of the hard drive is very, very likely.
