Well I want another mac so I figured a 1 Ghz or 1.25 Ghz G4 iMac and after checking their specs out on everymac every G4 model can only take 1 GB I don't understand Why! I know they have 2 RAM slots (One Taken) but still you can access it and also there's a RAM slot in the bottom so why can't the G4 iMac's take 2 GB I don't see why not.

the memory controller might not be able to use 1gb sticks. the controller might only be able to see 1gb max. i dont know much about the G4 imacs, so i cant be of much help.
i do know that when it comes to PC100 and PC133 there is high and low density sticks, the Beige G3, B&W G3, and Yikes G4 had a issue with 256mb high density ram sticks where it would only see half of a 256 or not work at all, you had to use the 16 chip low density 256mb sticks before those systems could be maxed out to 768mb for the Beige G3 or 1gb for the B&W G3/Yikes G4.
i know the iMac G4 is a different system (and uses DDR ram) but maybe it has the same limits or the controller can only see a max of 1gb. i have seen some places say that the ram limit could be in the firmware, i would not know how true this is or not or if its a memory controller limit. i know Apple put limits on how much ram some Macs can use either by the memory controller or by firmware.
if i was you i would look for a Power Mac G4 ( digital audio or above) cause its able to take more ram ( the digital audio and Quicksilver can only take 1.5GB max, wile the MDD can take 2gb max), has 4 PCI slots a 4x AGP slot better cause you can upgrade the GFX card up way past what the iMac has for GFX, you could find one cheaper then you could a iMac G4. and you can buy a dual G4 cpu upgrade (up to dual 1.8ghz) for the Power Macs if you wanted.
I beleive that those iMacs that used DDR memory could actually access up to 2GB. It was the PC133 iMac G4s that only used up to 1GB. Well, according to MacTracker.
