CC mobo burned trace

after putting a 9G IBM HD into my CC and turning it on the first time, it kept restarting itself and the HD did spin up and down constantly. after checking everything I noticed this
why did that happen?

It's tough to say without hav

It's tough to say without having the CC in front of me, but it looks like you've got a short somewhere...likely caused by components being moved around while installing the new drive.
I recall having to put tape on the metal bracket at the analog board connector on one of my CCs due to it constantly shorting out the audio.

Can't see from the photo: is the trace now broken?

its not broken. but the coppe

its not broken. but the copper trace isn´t covered by the board material anymore. swapped th eold hd back in and everything is ok, back to the new drive and it starts to smell funny again. so must be something with the drive. but it tests ok in 3 other macs... ???
