(iBook G4, 1.2Ghz, 12", 256Mb RAM, 30Gb HD, OS 10.3.9)
My main point:
Does anybody know how to disable the iBook keyboard?
In System Preferences you can get the ibook to ignore the trackpad while a USB mouse is attached.
Well, what I want to do is get the ibook to ignore the keyboard while a USB keyboard is attached.
Thanks
Extra information:
My ibook types by itself sometimes.
If I run the Apple Hardware Test when the computer is fine then the computer will pass the Apple Hardware Test.
But, if I run the Apple Hardware Test when the computer is malfunctioning then the computer will fail the Apple Hardware Test.
Here is the error message:
Video RAM Error detected
***ERROR*CODE***ERROR*CODE***
2ATI/2/4: 113-xxxxx- 1 42
***ERROR*CODE***ERROR*CODE***
My current solution is this: I have used the software Ukelele to reassign the malfunctioning keys:
F10
0
p
;
/
=
]
RETURN
and I have also physically reassigned the keys on a cheap USB keyboard, this has got my computer pretty much under control, but the ibook keyoboard still dominates sometimes by sending random signals, so that's why I want to disable the iBook from sending typing signals completely.
I would appreciate it if anybody has a solution, thanks.
(Note: I am quite surethat my actual iBook keyboard has no problems. The problem is with the logic board).
I've seen this before. Have you tried disconnecting the keyboard from the logic board? Reconnect it, perhaps. Worse comes to worse, by disconnecting it, you should be in a better spot. (the internal keyboard on all iBook G4's is still adb strangely enough - so removing it should help.
Thanks, but I already tried that, no luck.
I'm wondering if there is a software solution to this problem.
Can I modify the OS? Do it in terminal? Or at some start up screen where I can type in some code?
