Hello,
I recently purchased a Centris 610 and have been in the process of upgrading it a bit. It has no cd-drive and only an 80Mb hard drive, which I am currently in the process of upgrading to 4Gb. I want to get a cd-rom drive for it because I have quite a few old games that will work with it, not to mention the prospect of maybe getting OS 8.1 on it someday. The only kit I can find is on eBay for a price that's a little high for what it comes with (the bezel, the mounting tray, and a 2x drive). I was wondering if anyone knew any other source for these parts. The bezel and the mounting tray are the main problem. I've froogled, googled, and eBayed trying to find these things but so far I haven't had any luck.
I stumbled across this site when I first bought my Apple II Gs a month or so ago and I figured you guys would be the best place to post this up at. Thanks in advance

Hey,
I hesitate to suggest the Low End Mac swaplist only because the bozo nannies are always banning me for personal reasons. It's a great resource run by morons and idiots -- and that is my personal opinion and a strong case can be made for the statement. Having said all of that you can get the poop here:

Have fun,

I agree with William on both points (that the LEM Swaplist is your best bet for this and that the LEM Swaplist is managed poorly).
I do have an alternative recommendation, though. Check out the 68k MLA. They might have what you need. http://68kmla.net/forums/
FYI, the drive mount tray is a pretty standard slab of plastic that was used in a variety of Macs. If I recall correctly, the same tray is used in the 630, 62xx, 63xx, 8500, 9500, 7xxx, etc. The drive bezel is unique to the 61x and 61xx series, but you might have better luck if you include the 6100 and 6116 in your search. I wouldn't restrict myself to a 2x CD-ROM (unless you are going for the fully vintage feel). Virtually any SCSI CD-ROM will work.
Peace,
Drew
Thanks guys, I've already posted up on both of those. I hope I can get some replies and get a drive for this baby.
Thanks also for the specifics of the models the parts worked with alk, I'll have to do some more searches with that.

I'll take a look in my parts bin.
My 1'st mac was a Centris 610.
Upgraded to CD Drive and 5 GB HD. WOW.
I may still have some parts...
Dave
I just bought the parts after a good week or two of searching, thanks all to their efforts. Case Closed!
