My new Pismo

might as well make a formal topic on this, as I L O V E this machine, even after using it for 2 days. I can see as to why folks lust after them, even 7 years after they were introduced.

it is a verfy solidly built mac. very fast, about on par with my desktop B&W, only portable. It is surprisingly lightweight for all the power and expandibility it packs.

My model is a baseline 400mhz 64mb 6gb 8mb video DVD machine, but when I got it, someone had upgraded it with a 256mb full height stick in the top slot. I supplimented that by replacing the 64mb stick witha PC-66 128mb stick, for a nice 384mb. With that, plus the 40gb HD I dropped in it, it dual boots 9.2.2 and 10.4.9 nicely, with about 10gb free after all my files were transfered over ethernet.

the keyboard is also a winner. feels as good as my wallstreet, but slightly better somehow. The LCD is the same one as in my wallstreet, but the AGP graphics and 8mb VRAm make it even better.

currently, I am using a Lucent wavelan gold from my 1400 in the external slot, which works with the Sourceforge WirelessDriver beta 6 for tiger, but that will change soon with the arrival of an offical airport card off LEM swap.

I am also in love with the stereo speakers, which are louder than the ones in my wallstreet, as I have had to turn the volum down on most occasions.

another thing I love is battery life, which with only one gives me more than 2.5 hours. in fasct, I am typing this on it now, and I have been running it on battery non stop since about 8:45 a.m., and it is just now 11am, and I still have 1/3rd of my battery life left. Imagine how long I can run it with 2!!

well, that's about it. i'm off to have more fun with this fantastic portable, which from what I hear is even more durrable than the TiBooks.
