Philips 877 Direct Drive Turntable Won't Turn Off

Philips 877 Direct Drive Turntable.

This is the model with the touch sensitive controls. Mine is/was in mint condition but now it won't turn off. You can play a record and the arm returns and the platter stops and clicks off but than turns back on. Just the platter continues to rotate. If you touch the stop button it turns off and clicks back on.

Weird...any ideas?

877

Try to clean the touch-sensitive startbutton with an degreaser of some sort.
Wipe dry after, and you should be home free.

The outside of the button or inside the case? I cleaned the outside where you would touch it with alcohol and windex, neither helped.

stupid merrygoround

Had the same problem with my merrygoround. It just kept going faster and faster and it was impossible to turn off (the switch was in the middle!).
