Okay guys, i have a new issue.
i fixed up that old ibook g4 i had, sold it for $800 and now, i want to buy a powerbook g4 (don't ask why.)
Anyway, so i'm looking at two on ebay
1 - is perfect but only 1 GHZ, and is up to $400 right now.
2- 1.5 GHZ, buy it now at $688 but is only at $500 right now
The problem i have is that the second one ( the one i want) has a line down the LCD. it's not an external or cosmetic scratch, it's a very thin line that flickers straight down the screen. if anyone is interested this is the link for the actual listing (if any of you bid on it, i'll attack ) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=012&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=220062797878&rd=1&rd=1
My question is.. would i have to buy a new LCD to get rid of that ? would updating OS X help ? or what..
**These both end in about 16 hours.. so the sooner the better!
Thanks !!!
There's a slim chance the fault is simply the LCD cable being loose/partially unplugged. More likely is the LCD cable being stuffed and/or the panel. Upgrading to OS X will not help.
That's almost certainly where the fault lies. Good thing is those LCDs aren't all that expensive (US$150 or less) and aren't all that hard to replace. iBooks and previous 12" P'Books all used the same basic LCD, AFAIK all are interchangable (unless someone else knows different.)
Still, at that price it's awfully close to what a faultless unit should cost . . .
