I just got my new macintosh portable. Most everything works except the battery. I'm using a pb100 adpater. The problems are every few minutes the speaker will start making this screeching like noise(maybe radio interference) the noise seems to respond to hd, and fdd access, but stops if i leave it for awhile or adjust volume in control panel. Sometimes if i put it to sleep or the HDD shuts off on its own, and i try to wake it the portable will loose power and restart.

i forgot to add, this is a non-backlit model, with a modem 2mb of ram, and the original hd.
i've found that both problems were because of me having no battery
