I have an iBook G4 with a 14" cracked screen and a iBook G3 14" complete LCD lid assembly. I am under the assumption I can fix the cracked screen with the 14" G3 screen. Is that right?
If I am right what is the easiest (and possible) method? Replacing the whole lid assy or just the G3 LCD panel itself, back into the lid of G4.
I have the manual for replacing the whole lid assembly but there are two problems. One obviously is the Apple moniker. The G3's say "iBook" and the G4 says "iBook G4", second is, will the cables match up and reach?
This is why I opened up the replacement G3 lid assembly. It appears I could just swap the LCD panel itself or is there a cable that is not connected by a plug and is soldered and I will have to dismantle the whole iBook anyway.
Hope my questions make sense.

With thanks to iantm, I have fixed the iBook G4 with an LCD panel from a iBook G3 that I got from Ebay. It was a very easy fix. Just take off the top cover (the one with the Apple logo) from the LCD lid and remove the screws, tape and unplug the electronics from the LCD panel and swap in the new one. Took me about 15 minutes.
Also using a medium guitar pick as a spudger worked beautifully as well (thank you 'fritter member) to separate the white lid housing.

I really appreciate it. I just try to help as much as I can.
