hello

Hey I just got a powerbook g4. My friend owned it and got into a car accident, the monitor was smashed. I took the monitor off it and now it is pretty much a keyboard. I have a monitor plugged into the video card and it is a really cool computer. I am planning on putting leapord on this computer, however i am wondering if the videocard will work if i format the system?

I do not have a default monitor anymore, will upgrading mess me up? or will the external monitor still get image ?

I am also looking for opensource mac software.

Thanks for anyone that can help...

All PowerBooks should nativel

All PowerBooks should natively display video through an external display. Upgrading should have no effect.

I hit the eject button. it continues to sit at a blue screen,=[ ... is there a way to eject the cd before the computer boots from it? I also noticed that there was not a manual way to eject the disk. am I over looking something.

ejecting a cd

hi there! try to press and hold the space bar upon booting (when you hear the start up sound) or alternatively you can press and hold the mouse button, if one is connected.
the cd should be ejected then. if that doesnt work, let me know. there is another way to get it out, but a bit dangerous Smile

cheers, chris

Hold the [Option] key at boot

Hold the [Option] key at boot. A screen will come up with icons for all bootable drives.

Click on your hard drive's icon, then click the right arrow. Eject the CD when you get to the Finder.

hi again, I tried all of

hi again,

I tried all of the meathods. Nothing seemed to work. I ended upfinding an article that suggested to turn on the computer and hold a sequence of keys.

the sequence is: CMD+OPTION(alt)+O+F...

This brought me to a terminal, then I typed "eject cd"

just like that the problem was gone.

Thanks everyone,
I'll be back

~Chris
