I sorta dropped my DV camcorder the other day, and it still works fine. Except for the fact that when I'm importing video via firewire to my mac, the video is all wavy, as in horizontal waves. When I click record, the clip on the HD is fine. The camera's internal screen is fine, and I haven't tried analog out yet.

Crap, that really sucks. Does it happen to be under warranty?? If so, I would just call the company and say "its like all wavy and stuff" and then let them do all the prequistite troubleshooting and then get a RMA and ship it in for repair. Do not voluneteer that you "sorta dropped it" otherwise they will sorta drop the call so fast it won't be funny.
Then just ship it in and get it fixed under warranty. Just dont' say anything about it being dropped. If anything it was just an accelerrated movement of the object to be placed on the ground for storage for a temporary moment.
The crappy thing is that the camera itself is fine, and the saved video firewire stream is fine, just when I'm previewing the video its wavy. And no, its not under warranty.
Sometimes it matters what type of mini DV you used. I one filled a long movie on a sony with a panasonic tape in it and it got totaly disorientated. Whole project Down the toilet. Anyway try the tapes from the company. I might work... and if it doesn't, then you're totaly screwed.

THERE IS NO PROBLEM - I CAN STILL IMPORT VIDEO FINE - THE CAMERA SCREEN IS FINE - I AM NOT FRIGGIN SCREWED!! I've just got a previewing problem.
BTW, it only blurs with movement. In the video I was doing, I was doing panoramas of the rooms. It's now fixed. For some reason, the blurring only happens in .
Well, if it's only a small problem only while it's previewing...WHERE's the problem?
You like your Macintosh more than me, don't you, Dave? Dave? Can you hear me, Dave...?
What kind of camera is it?
Oh, and I now know why my parents only got me a DV cam when I was 13 - it's because under that age, you can't take care of stuff. I remember when I dropped a CRT...eek
