Well i dropped my lombard accidently, it fell from about 3' in sleep mode, in very padded samsonite laptop case, the when i took it out of the case i noticed that the battery had become disconnected. So i booted it up and it started fine. Except it no longer recognized my wifi card, nor my firewire card both of which worked previously. The lombard hangs when i boot it up in os 9 either card in. i looked at things in console and when i plug it in it produces this gets put in the system.log:
Jun 7 15:32:32 localhost kernel: IOPCCard info: cs: cb_alloc(bus 1): unable to create cardbus nub for socket 0
any ideas?
i'm typing this message on the powerbook.
Have you tried running the Disk Utility and checking the HD for errors?
are your firewire and wifi cards PCMCIA/Cardbus? Were the cards inserted when it fell? If so you totally broke the so-called "cage" that hold them.
the wifi card was in the slot when it fell, i've got the firewire card working now though without problems i had to reseat the cardcage. but i'm still having problems the wifi card freezes the computer when i stick it in, is this a software problem? card problem because one time so far i have gottent the wifi card to be recognized sorta but i couldnt connect to any networks.
Last night you said that part of your wifi card broke; that would be your problem! PC Cards aren't designed to be very durable, and it's very likely that the wifi card is never going to work again.
